Community Development
What is Community Development?
Community development is a collaborative process through which people within a community identify needs, mobilize resources, and take collective action to improve their quality of life. It involves working together to create a more equitable, resilient, and sustainable future—economically, socially, environmentally, and spiritually. It is not only about physical improvements but also about empowering individuals to shape their communities’ well-being.
Projects
• Installation of solar panels for electricity and lighting in homes, clinics, and schools
• Water purification systems for safe drinking water
• Formation of local cooperatives (e.g., poultry, agriculture, crafts) to generate income and ownership.
• Community health education (nutrition, hygiene, maternal health)
• Construction of schools, health clinics, and latrines
• Vocational training in carpentry, sewing, or computer literacy areas.
• Spiritual development initiatives: Bible-based leadership, family counseling, and discipleship
• Youth and women empowerment seminars
• Environmental protection awareness, like reforestation or clean-up campaigns
Our Approach
GMNET believes community development is most effective when:
• It is locally led and culturally respectful
• Rooted in biblical values of stewardship and justice
• Integrated with other mission efforts (health, education, evangelism)
• Focused on long-term transformation, not short-term aid
